Daltons on the Sycamore, Gretna
Daltons on the Sycamore, located near Gretna, is a family operation that dates back six generations to 1849. Presently, Doug and Beverly Dalton and their children, Wynn and Jess Herbers, and Whitney, Judson and Douglas Dalton III own the operation. Dennis Eastin manages the cow herd, which includes 150 registered females and 100 commercial cows.

The Daltons utilize artificial insemination and embryo transfer to produce cattle that are structurally sound. They focus on a combination of maternal traits, carcass potential and phenotypic design. Cattle are marketed in three sales annually, and cattle are consigned to association sales and sold privately.

Located along Sycamore Creek, Daltons on the Sycamore takes pride in working with young people to get them involved in the Angus business. The Daltons will host several guest displays of cattle at their stop.

The Daltons use shows as a way to promote their cattle. They were named both Premier Breeder and Premier Exhibitor at the 2000 Atlantic National Super-Point Roll of Victory Angus Show in Maryland. The Atlantic National was also dedicated to the Daltons in 1998. The Daltons are invested in the youth of the Angus breed. Their children were actively involved in the National Junior Angus Association. Today, they sell show heifers and encourage other youth to become involved in junior Angus activities.
